In 2014, Shay Marie, then 16 years old, was reportedly sexually assaulted by Tanner Lynn Horner, a FedEx driver who had recently confessed to the kidnapping and murder of Athena Strand, a seven-year-old Texas child.

On social media, Marie, who is presently 23 years old, has frequently discussed Horner’s assault on her.
In Paradise, Texas, on a Wednesday afternoon last week, Horner acknowledged to grabbing Strand from her family’s driveway. On Friday, she was discovered dead, and according to the officials, she was most likely murdered about an hour after being taken.

Shay Marie is a 16-year-old girl who was previously raped by Tanner Lynn Horner. She has been in the news because Tanner Lynn Horner recently murdered a 7-year-old Texas kid named Athena Strand.
Marie reported the rape to police enforcement, according to a friend of hers who wrote about it on social media. In a post to her Facebook page in November 2019, she wrote,
Friendly reminder that Tanner Horner is a rapist.
She stated the following in a September 2017 post:

I am 23. The man who assaulted when I was 16 was 23. We were ‘friends,’ he tried convincing me to date him and I declined. We stayed ‘friends’ until he could get me inebriated enough to take advantage of me – a 16-year-old child. I could never in a million years imagine being friends with a 16-year-old now, let alone trying to date/sleep with a 16-year-old. I will never understand it.
Later, Shay Marie shared a number of screenshots of text exchanges she had with friends and Horner’s ex-girlfriend in 2018.
One text said,
On a Friday night, [Horner] got me drunk with the intention of having sex with me. I was nearly blackout drunk when he decided to rape me. I couldn’t physically fight him. My body wouldn’t move.
The victim said that she continuously pushed Horner’s hand away while he continued to touch him. She wrote,
Started having bad anxiety. I was frozen. I cried. He was stroking my legs and side, talking about my most recent ex at the time. He wouldn’t stop.
Shae Marie also actively participated in crowdfunding for Athena Strand’s Gofundme. In her recent posts, she also criticized authorities for setting perpetrator free in her case.
