There is a new sensation in town and his name is doing rounds at the junior circuit for quite a while now. The 13-year-old sensation Davis Wotnosky is surely one to watch out for in the future.
Wotnosky is slowly but surely taking some big steps toward professional golf. The 13-year-old sensation on Saturday drove the green on a 322-yard Par 4 which has impressed everyone.
Wotnosky is not the only one from his family who is out to make it big in the world of golf. His sister Haeley is also an aspiring senior from Virginia who has already competed in one US Amateur Championship and three US Women’s Junior Championships.
Davis Wotnosky is second youngest golfer to compete US Junior Amateur history
Young Davis first came into the limelight about a year ago when at the age of 12 he competed in the US Junior Amateur history. At 12 years, 6 months, and 16 days old he became the second youngest golfer to compete in this Championship. The youngest ever to take part in this Championship was Matthew Pierce Jr in 2001 at the age of 12 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
After making his debut at US Amateur Championship in 2021, Davis Wotnosky said that it was fun taking part in the event despite being nervous during the early stages of the event.
“I wanted to play in this event, especially here, for a long time,” said Davis Wotnosky. “I was pretty nervous on the first tee. I usually do not get nervous. I certainly felt it there.
“It’s been fun. I know this golf course and I have played it a few times. And to have all the people I know here is great.”
However, despite being the second youngest golfer in the history of this event, Davis said it’s nothing special and wants to achieve more in the future.
“Yeah, I’m definitely proud of it but I hope it’s just one of the achievements,” Wotnosky added. “I’m definitely proud of it I wanted to play in the tournament for a while now so it’s definitely pretty cool to hear.”
