Victoria Beckham Sweater and Skirt at British Fashion Awards 2014

I'm calling last night's British Fashion Awards unofficial confirmation that Victoria Beckham has a signature winter party style that none of us saw coming. To accept her award for Brand of the Year, she picked a long pleat-front maxiskirt and a mock turtleneck (with an open back to keep things a little sexy). It's super covered-up, light-years away from body-con minis, and something she's totally done before.

The knit pushed up to mid-forearm and the long skirt make for a silhouette that's like nothing I've seen at any of my holiday cocktail parties. It's practical (um, hello, you could totally rock a pair of thermals under that skirt), and the contrasting fabrics is intriguing.

So why do I think it's a thing with her? She wore a near identical version to an event at Selfridges.

The skirt, in both cases, looks like it's from her label. I can't find any pictures from the back of her at the Selfridges appearance, but I'd put money on it being the same style.

The Mirror has a video of her sweet acceptance speech that's worth watching if you want your girl crush to grow even deeper. Victoria chokes up a little as she thanks her parents, explaining that "I'm a pain in the bottom," and of her country and family, it was all love. "I am so, so proud to be British, and I am incredibly proud that I have built my brand here, in the U.K…. David, you inspire me every day, you support me, you make this possible. I adore you."

Do you have a formula for your holiday-party dressing? Would you try a chunky sweater and long skirt?
