Just wondering if I exploring and get to far away from my new settlement with a base near it, and they need something can I always use my portal on the freighter to get there? Also once I use my portal on the freighter how do I get back to it since I wouldnt have my spaceship with me? Showing 1 - 12 of 12 comments. Bufferlow View Profile View Posts. You are probably using terms wrong.. Teleporters, work anywhere they can connect to Teleport listings are limited Teleporting to a freighter does not work EVER. Avder View Profile View Posts. And one miss and you're falling to your doom in space. I hope they do get this feature in eventually, but considering how long its been absent I have to imagine its either a conscious design decision or some kind of game architecture limitation that's impeding its implementation. And right now I just want them to hammer out all the bugs Frontiers introduced. Asmosis View Profile View Posts. Portals dont have any distance limit, you can even go to another galaxy and still return. As for your ship, it'll spawn nearby whenever you go through a portal. If there's a landing pad at your base, it'll be on that. You can also summon your ship from the menu provided it has fuel. Last edited by Asmosis ; 4 Sep, am. Originally posted by Avder :. Freighter position changes and there is code in the game to keep up with it's location so it's not an option. Even if you don't move your freighter. Originally posted by Orion Invictus :. Just pull your freighter to you, either from a planet's surface, or in space. Since it moves, its teleporter is not fixed and thus the other teleporters can't "find" it. Presumably, your exosuit remembers where you've been before, and the station and planet teleporters can read that. Your title is not an option in the game, whatever distance you cannot teleport towards inside your freighter, only from your freighter to X. This is true if they didn't change it in the last main updates which I think they didn't I know it's not in Beyond or Desolation and I'm not aware they have added it since. And there are no distance limits for teleporters or portals make the difference between the 2 please , and unfortunately the discovery section doesn't show you the distance to a system, you only get it when launching the map in space. As said above, to return quickly to your freighter, be in space and summon it. Done, go inside. Also if it's only to transfer materials you don't need to summon it if you have the necessary upgrade installed for long distance teleportation of materials. Nabinkemper View Profile View Posts. I save on my freighter all the time and spawn back on it when I bring the game back up. That said, the method that I use is to just park it just outside of a space station okay, sometimes actually sticking into the space station a smidge Then you can teleport to the space station and just fly a short hop to the freighter. It doesn't cost anything except a minute or two of time. I've certainly made that mistake enough times. Last edited by Faceplant8 ; 4 Sep, pm. To be fair NMS has both teleporters and portals. Boards No Man's Sky Question about how much power to supply to your base teleporter TooManyHours 1 year ago 1. Just did the tutorial about having to build and power a teleporter at your first base. I powered it up for only a couple of minutes of run time. The next task was to fly into space and find the space station to look for someone to talk to about your 16 message. I spent quite a bit of time on the station before using the teleporter at the base but I made it home fine - my base teleporter was out of juice but so what. So what's the purpose of having to put lots of carbon to power the teleporter if you can still teleport back to your base when the teleporter has already stopped running? I know you have to have it powered up if you want to use it from your base so is the power requirement based on how far away your are going or can you just put a minute or 2 of power into it and teleport anywhere you visited before? I imagine you only need enough fuel to use it when you want. It's not based on distance. I'm not sure what happens when you want to dial home and the portal doesn't have power. I have mine set up in my freighter. All of my equipment is powered by the ship's systems. The only problem with that is you can dial out but you can't return that way. To get the right word in the right place is a rare achievement. TooManyHours Topic Creator 1 year ago 3. Thanks for the response - I spent much longer on the space station than the 2 minutes of power that the teleporter had when I left in my ship and I was able to teleport back to my base with no problem. When I got back to the base I could see there was no power on the teleporter. That said, I recall reading that you can teleport back to your base even if you don't have a teleporter - the game will send you back to the base computer - so maybe that's what actually happened since the teleporter had no power at the time. As I recall the teleporter only needs power if you're using it to transport from its location to another one. The one on the destination end doesn't need power. It probably should need to be powered but they didn't go to the trouble of coding the game to check that and give you a "no power at destination" error or a "lost in teleportation" death heh. I judge everyone based on their sig. If you wanna judge me for that, go ahead. TooManyHours posted Thats how it works, the teleporter is only used to select where to teleport to. It has no effect on the destination. You can just use a biofuel reactor and put 40 carbon in it to power the teleporter. AsIfByMagic 1 year ago 6.
