TimeSplitters is officially coming back with reformed Free Radical Design at the helm

Publisher Deep Silver has announced that a new TimeSplitters game will enter development "in the coming months," with a reformed Free Radical Design at the helm.
Deep Silver says the founders of Free Radical Design, Steve Ellis and David Doak, have reunited along with "key original members" of the British developer's design team to bring the "TimeSplitters brand back to life." The reformed studio will be situated in Nottingham.

"To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible," said Steve Ellis, Free Radical Design's studio development director. "While we cannot tell you anything more at the moment, we look forward to sharing information in the future."

TimeSplitters is a much-loved FPS, which launched for the PS2 back in 2000. The game shared similarities and was often compared to Rare's classic first-person shooters, Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark, both of which Ellis and Doak worked on before leaving Rare to form Free Radical Design. TimeSplitters got a sequel in 2002 and a third entry into the series, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, in 2005. Koch Media, the parent company of Deep Silver, purchased the TimeSplitters IP back in 2018.

Deep Silver says that Free Radical Design will start development on the new game in the coming months.

Last month, a fully playable, native 4K port of TimeSplitters 2 was discovered in Homefront: The Revolution.
