PGA Tour stars Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy joined Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, and other officials for the ceremonial groundbreaking of TGL, an interactive, indoor tech golf league.

The groundbreaking was held at Palm Beach State College (PBSC), approximately five miles away from the site of their epic showdown in the Honda Classic nine years ago. The TGL is the first project of the newly-formed TMRW Sports Group. The project is in partnership with the PGA Tour.

The commencement of construction for the TGL venue in Palm Beach Gardens is a noteworthy milestone for golf. Beginning in early 2024, the TGL league will feature 15 regular-season Monday night events hosted in an enclosed arena. The games will blend virtual and in-person golf, with professional golfers participating in a fast-paced contest. The competition format will involve six teams comprising three PGA Tour players competing against each other in head-to-head 18-hole match play games.

At the venue, spectators can witness a combination of a virtual course and a technologically advanced short-game complex. They can view the competition up close, with the golfers being mic’d up for an enhanced experience. Furthermore, the league has plans to incorporate betting into the sport. Woods emphasized that “Wagering is a fundamental aspect of our sport and our culture.”

Palm Beach State students will receive educational and recreational advantages due to the collaboration between TMRW Sports Group and PBSC. The arena’s construction, which will be located on the Palm Beach Gardens campus’s unused property, is part of the initiative. Additionally, TMRW Sports Group has pledged $1 million to the college.

“This truly is a transformational gift delivering unprecedented exposure that positions Palm Beach State College as a national leader for innovation in higher learning,” said Palm Beach State College President Ava Parker.

The TGL venue and its location received acclaim from Governor DeSantis, who expressed that it is fitting for such an event to take place in the “epicenter” of the golfing universe. He remarked, “This region is truly the epicenter of golf worldwide. A significant percentage of professional golfers who tour and win championships reside between Jupiter and this area.”

To sum up, The groundbreaking ceremony for the TGL venue in Palm Beach Gardens marks a significant milestone for the world of golf. With its unique format that combines traditional stroke play and team competition, the TGL has the potential to revolutionize how golf is played and experienced.
