What are the best places to have sex? These days, it can be hard to know. Because let’s be honest: We all deal with monotony, especially when it comes to having the best sex lives. We wake up, we shower, we work, we scroll Instagram, and we fall asleep in front of Netflix. It's not exactly a routine that always inspires the kind of spontaneity required to try a new kinky sex idea. 

The pandemic didn’t exactly inspire frisky feelings, either. A recent survey of 1,100 single people in the US and the UK found that 46% of respondents said they were having less sex during lockdown. As Ev’Yan Whitney, a sex educator and sexuality doula, told Glamour, “[People are] starved for companionship and community, and there’s also this anxiety of, ‘Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve been in a sexual relationship!’ There’s a worry that maybe they don’t know how to do it anymore.” 

But this doesn’t mean we’re all doomed to slip into a sexless oblivion. Variety—when practiced safely—is the spice that keeps a good sex life hot, even without a hot tub. It doesn’t have to be intimidating either. Sex in public is a fantasy for many people; and if that sounds hot to you, there are several ways to make that happen while maintaining privacy. 

And if the idea of getting it on in a dressing room or on top of a pool table sparks fear in your heart, that doesn’t mean you can’t still be adventurous. Even Girls star Jemima Kirke prefers keeping it local. “I’m not very adventurous with locations,” she told Glamour in a previous interview. “I just find a bed to be the best place to do anything. It’s comfortable, you have lots of space. When I say a bed, I mean a king-size strictly, or a California king. A locked door. Good daylight. I love the daylight for that kind of thing, for sex. If the connection is there, I don’t really need any bells and whistles.”
