Meanwhile, Steven Yeun is making headlines for his possibility of joining the potential live-action movie, Invincible. Previously, playing the titular role in Robert Kirkman’s highly appreciated Invincible show in 2021, the actor expressed his desire to join the potential movie that is being developed since 2017.
Steven Yeun’s Departure From the Role of Marvel’s Sentry
As Marvel is currently developing the upcoming film Thunderbolts, Steven Yeun was reportedly associated with the role of Bob Reynolds, aka Sentry. It was never officially confirmed by Marvel. Instead, the reports came from The Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman, who claimed that Yeun had already tried on Sentry’s costume for the film.
But while fans were getting excited over the unconfirmed reports of Steven Yeun joining the MCU as Sentry, they faced a blow when the actor noted his departure from the role. Thereafter, Steven Yeun quit the role of Sentry, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. However, this very report sent fans into a frenzy as they got worried about how it might impact the MCU’s future. Although he was not physically resembling Sentry, Yeun was considered the perfect choice for the role. But now, with his exit, fans have come to the conclusion that Thunderbolts either needs to recast Sentry or completely replace him.
Steven Yeun Might Join the Live Action Movie, Invincible
As fans begin worrying about the upcoming MCU project, Steven Yeun makes another headline for his desired association with Robert Kirkman’s live-action Invincible movie. According to Screen Rant’s reports, Kirkman is currently planning to bring a live-action film adaptation of his comics, for which Yeun is weighing in on the chances.
Previously, Steven Yeun worked in Robert Kirkman‘s animation show of his comics, which featured on Prime Video and had 12 episodes in 2021. Thereafter, as the show got praised by comic readers and even audiences, Kirkman began working in full force on his Invincible movie, which has been in development since 2017. Noting that Kirkman is planning to make a live-action movie, Yeun thus expressed his desire to join.
“How far do you see that story going, and would you ever consider participating in a live-action version?” asked Screen Rant.
“Well, I am 40 [Chuckles].” Yeun replied.
“You could be the dad!” stated Screen Rant.
“Yeah, we’ll see. I love working with Robert. That comic is so great, and it goes so long and so deep. So, I’m excited to see that play itself out. Right now, we’re having a lot of fun making this show. Live action — who knows?” Yeun claimed.
Although Steven Yeun previously played the titular character of Invincible in Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, the actor acknowledged that his age likely rules him out of reprising his animated role in the potential film. However, keeping his hopes high, the actor admitted his desire to work further on Kirkman’s projects.
