INDIANAPOLIS - The man who won Survivor is now running for Indiana governor. Rupert Boneham is a Libertarian candidate who told WTHR Wednesday how he'd reduce the state's unemployment rate.
"What we have to do is show people how to go back to work. We have so many that have been phased out of work and for so long that it's hard to get started back. At the same time, giving small businesses the same advantage we give to large businesses," he said.
He also spoke on the issue of the country's mortgage crisis and how it has affected Indiana families.
"Working so closely with the income-challenged families and working here in Indianapolis seeing how hard it is to pay our bills, struggling every week, every month when you have such high interest rates, when you have such close margins, if we could eliminate some of that interest and get down to principals, we could restructure, instead of going in and taking properties back, we figure out how they could stay in the property. Once they lose a home, it hurts us all," he said.
