“Stay away,” Stephen A. Smith feels Dak Prescott should watch football on TV rather than play after losing against the 49ers

Stephen A. Smith is the man to be right now. After having hell rained down on him for his comments predicting Dak Prescott throwing away the game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he can finally say “he was right all along”.

Smith’s disdain for Dallas Cowboys is well known because the veteran ESPN analyst doesn’t shy away from showing up America’s Team whenever they lose a game. After the horrific Week 18 performance by Dak Prescott, Smith donned a cowboy hat and talked in a southern accent throughout his monologue pointing out Prescott’s shortcomings.

Now that the San Francisco 49ers have once again crushed Dallas’ dream of a long-awaited Super Bowl, Smith brought back his cowboy hat and paired it up with a cigar for dramatic effect. As expected he tore into the Cowboys for losing a game that they should’ve won but didn’t because of wrong plays at the wrong time.

Stephen A. Smith did tip his hat to the Cowboys’ defense who kept the team in the game. The Micah Parsons-led defense was able to put pressure on rookie quarterback Brock Purdy who didn’t have a big game. Purdy completed 19 of his 29 passes for 214 yards, zero touchdowns, and came on the other side clean without an interception.

If a rookie quarterback who was the last pick in the draft didn’t throw an interception in the game, an outsider would definitely contend that a veteran quarterback with seven years of experience also wouldn’t throw a pick. Well, that outsider would be so wrong. Dak Prescott ended the game by completing 62% of his passes for 206 yards, one touchdown, and TWO interceptions.

This is exactly where Stephen A. Smith has a problem with the 29-year-old QB. “What you really need to do as the leader of a franchise is not get outplayed by a third-string quarterback. When your best-running back which is Tony Pollard right now, goes down you were supposed to take that game over and you couldn’t do it,” Smith said as he let out a sinister laugh on First Take

Cowboys legend Michael Irvin jumped in and reminded Smith that he insinuated firing Dak Prescott just because he lost to a third-string quarterback. To which Smith replied, “I’m not intimating anything, I’m speaking facts. Fact is he got outplayed by a third-string QB yesterday on the biggest stage. That’s all I said. I didn’t say anything about getting rid of Dak Prescott. You know you lose like that, stay away. I’m just saying stay away. Better watch it on TV. You don’t need to show up. You lost.”

After that humiliating defeat, Jerry Jones just might agree with Smith for the first time and make Dak Prescott watch the next season on TV. No one can predict what is going to happen in Dallas in the coming weeks. Only time will tell who stays and who leaves the Cowboys!
