Friday marked the kick-off to South Carolina’s annual tax-free weekend.
For 72 hours, consumers won’t be charged the 6% state sales taxes on computers, printers, school supplies, clothing and accessories, shoes, and certain bed and bath items.
The items can be bought online or in-store.
Cameras, smartphones, jewelry, and furniture are among the items that are not part of tax-free weekend. Find a detailed list of tax-free items here.
According to the S.C. Department of Revenue, shoppers in the Palmetto State bought more than $26.2 million in tax-free items during last years tax-free weekend.
The 2023 Tax Free Weekend runs Friday, August 4 at 12:00 a.m. through Sunday, August 6 at 11:59 p.m.
