Alexander Bublik received a bye in the first round by virtue of being the fourth seed. The Kazak defeated Altug Celikbilek in the second round in straight sets. He scored another straight sets victory over the fifth seeded Japanese, Yoshihito Nishioka in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he defeated the Romanian, Radu Albot, coming from a set down to produce a comeback victory.

The Australian had to grind out a three set victory against Adrian Andreev of Bulgaria in three sets in the second round. It was a hard fought victory for the Australian as he had to seal both the sets via a tiebreaker.
