Who Is The Dream Visitor?
The Dream Visitor is probably the most enigmatic character in the entire game. It is the character that you create after you create your own character at the beginning of the game, despite not knowing what it is for. While it isn't exactly clear at that point, the Dream Visitor will be an extremely important part of your playthrough. They also go by the name the Guardian and are the ones inside the Astral Prism claiming to be protecting you from the Mind Flayers and the tadpole that they put in your head. It can be extremely difficult to understand what they are and how their role with change the course of the game.
Baldur's Gate 3: How To Enter Rosymorn Monastery
Rosymorn Monastery is a location in Baldur's Gate 3 that may seem tricky to enter at first, and holds a puzzle within for players to solve.Should You Kill The Dream Visitor?
While completing Lae'zel's personal mission, she will ask you to help her find the Githyanki and ask for their help with the tadpole. During this quest, you will meet Vlaakith, Lae'zel's queen. Vlaakith will tell you to go into the Planecaster and kill the Dream Visitor that is residing in there. If you do this, you will have the option to kill the Dream Visitor; however, this cannot happen. If you go this route, the Dream Visitor will heal themselves and get upset at you for falling for Vlaakith's lies. They will inform you that you must speak with them later on about this incident. You will learn that Vlaakith's plan all along was to trick you into killing the Dream Visitor and then was going to attack and kill you and your party at camp. This allows you to realize that the Dream Visitor truly is trying to help you. While they may seem suspicious for encouraging you to use the Tadpole, they at least seem to want to help any way that they can. If you ever succeed in killing them, then you will learn the hard way that they're important.
If you choose to disobey Vlaakith, Lae'zel will leave your party, and you will have to kill her. This option is unavoidable if you decide to disobey Vlaakith. However, if you want to avoid upsetting the Dream Visitor and Lae'zel, you can simply enter the Planecaster and listen to the Dream Visitor before ultimately leaving. If you do this, you will have to fight your way out of the Githyanki group. However, this means that you will keep Lae'zel and make sure that the Dream Visitor doesn't get upset. The only problem with this scenario is that you will be fighting the entire area. There won't be anyone on your side besides your party.
Other Moments You Can Kill The Dream Visitor
Spoiler warning for other moments in the game.
During the moment that the Dream Visitor shows his true colors as The Emperor, the Mind Flayer, you do have the option to kill him. During this event, Githyanki attacked the Astral Prism. However, if you do kill him, the game automatically ends. You will find out that he truly is trying to help you, and you will end up becoming a Mind Flayer.
If you're still dead set on killing him, you do have the option in the end. To do this, you will need to side with the Githyanki and release the Githyanki Prince being held in the Astral Prism. Once this is done, you are able to kill your Dream Visitor for good. In this ending, you will need to fight the Netherbrain without the Emperor, but you will have Orpheus, who will not fully trust you, but will work with you.
If you're wondering what happens at the end if you do kill the Emperor, you have the option of controlling the Netherbrain. This will allow you to take the place of the three Absolute's Chosen if you do this. This is the evil ending, but is a pretty interesting one. You will be able to take over the world with this option. However, you don't have to choose this option if you kill him; you just have it available to you.
Players who keep harassing the Emporer and make him upset will learn the truth behind who he truly is. He is the one who murdered Duke Stelmane and has abandoned who he once was. While he thinks he is better than other Mind Flayers, he truly isn't.
Here's a breakdown of each time you can kill the Dream Visitor.
- When Githyanki attack the Astral Prism
- If you enter the Planecaster for Vlaakith
- If you release the Githyanki Prince
- If you decide to control the Netherbrain
