On June 24, 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Back in May, a draft of a Supreme Court ruling revealed that SCOTUS planned to vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, and people were rightly pissed.
In a bombshell leak shared on May 2 amid Met Gala red-carpet furor, Politico reported they obtained a draft of the majority decision, which Chief Justice John Roberts later confirmed was authentic. Since the leak, politicians, celebrities, and civilians alike have expressed their outrage over this violation of human rights.
Here are just some of the people who have expressed their opinion (a.k.a. rage) over the appalling Supreme Court decision to overturn its own ruling from 1973.
Meghan Markle
In an interview with Vogue that also featured feminist Gloria Steinem published on June 28, Meghan Markle described her and husband Prince Harry's reaction to the ruling as “guttural.”
“This is about women’s physical safety. It’s also about economic justice, individual autonomy, and who we are as a society,” she said. “Nobody should be forced to make a decision they do not want to make, or is unsafe, or puts their own life in jeopardy. Frankly, whether it’s a woman being put in an unthinkable situation, a woman not ready to start a family, or even a couple who deserve to plan their family in a way that makes the most sense for them, it’s about having a choice.”

Maya Hawke
On June 28, Stranger Things star Maya Hawke had an expletive for the Supreme Court.
“Of course, wealthy people will always be able to get abortions,” Hawke said during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “But so many people, because of this ruling this week, will not only not be able to pursue their dreams, but actually lose their lives and be unsafe and I just wanted to say that…fuck the Supreme Court.”

Lauren Conrad
Laguna Beach and The Hills star Lauren Conrad shared her experience with an ectopic pregnancy in a series of Instagram Stories on June 28. “Six years ago, while trying to start our family, I had an ectopic pregnancy,” Conrad wrote, per People. “Due to prompt medical care doctors saved my fallopian tubes, allowing me to have two healthy pregnancies. Yesterday I read about a woman with this same condition having her ectopic pregnancy rupture—and facing death—while waiting for treatment, because her doctor was on the phone with his lawyer out of fear of losing his medical license (for using a D&C as a tool to help establish the diagnosis of an ectopic pregnancy). This is heartbreaking.”
