Premier League explain why Trent Alexander-Arnold worldie free-kick taken off him in Liverpool vs Fulham thriller

Trent Alexander-Arnold thought he had scored a worldie free-kick on Sunday afternoon... but the Premier League had other ideas.

The right-back opened the scoring against Fulham with a long-range free-kick that went in after crashing off the underside of the crossbar.

Alexander-Arnold proceeded to celebrate by pulling out the shush celebration that he did last week in front of the Man City fans.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best fullback in the world. Don't ever get it twisted," one person wrote on X.

Another said: "Trent Alexander-Arnold at it again. He is him."

Another added: "Trent Alexander-Arnold, best in the world."

However, the Premier League later reviewed the goal and awarded it as a Bernd Leno own goal.

Replays show that it hit the Fulham goalkeeper on the back of the head before going in.

A post on the Premier League website read: "The ball came back of the bar and hit the 'keeper before crossing the line."

Former Liverpool player Harry Wilson got an equaliser just four minutes later.

Alexis Mac Allister put Liverpool ahead on the 38th minute with a spectacular long range shot that Bernd Leno had no chance of getting.

That was Mac Allister's first goal for the club since joining from Brighton.

The lead again did not last long with Kenny Tete putting Fulham back level in added time in the first half.

The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but replays showed Darwin Nunez was playing him on.

Liverpool had their chances in the second half, with Nunez hitting the crossbar, but it was Fulham who got the next goal.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid headed in at the back post, beating Konstantinos Tsimikas to the ball.

Wataru Endo netted an equaliser in the 87th minute before Alexander-Arnold did finally get his goal to secure a 4-3 win in a thriller at Anfield.
