Meal Powers are a new system introduced in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet that allows Trainers to increase their chances of finding certain Pokemon, gaining extra experience, finding Pokemon Eggs, and much more. There are a few different methods that can be used to obtain these Meal Powers.

First, you can go to any of the restaurants in the game and look at the menu. Each food item will have different Powers, usually up to three. Before you purchase a food item, it will tell you each Power that it has, so you can buy the item that best suits your needs.

The other method is through creating sandwiches while on a picnic. You can pick up ingredients from NPCs out in the wild, or you can buy ingredients from stores in each city. Every ingredient has a different power, and when mixed with other ingredients, it can create a sandwich with three different powers. You can set up a picnic by going into the Main Menu and scrolling down until you reach 'Picnic.' To start creating a sandwich, just approach the picnic table and choose 'Make a Sandwich.' You can earn more recipes by talking to the man next to the front desk of all Every Wich Way restaurants in different cities. He will give you a bunch of new recipes for free.

Catching Power

The first type of power you can receive is Catching Power. When this power is used, it will increase the likelihood of catching wild Pokemon of a particular type. For example, if you were to consume a sandwich that had a Catching Power for Ghost, you would have a higher chance of catching a Ghost-Type Pokemon. This power is useful if there is a Pokemon of a higher level that might be hard for you to catch, especially legendaries. You can eat something with the Catching Power of that Pokemon's Type to increase your chances of catching it.

A few sandwich recipes that will boost Catching Power include:

  • Jam Sandwich (Fighting-Type)
  • Dessert Sandwich (Flying-Type)
  • Ultra Cheese Sandwich (Water-Type)
  • BLT Sandwich (Grass-Type)

Egg Power

The next power that you can obtain in a recipe is Egg Power. With this, the likelihood of finding Eggs in your picnic basket will increase. Eggs can be found in your picnic basket occasionally, but when you have eaten something with this power, you will be able to breed Pokemon more frequently and find Eggs faster. The Eggs will be put into your box, and then you can put them on your team to make them hatch.

A few sandwich recipes that will boost Egg Power include:

  • Great Peanut Butter Sandwich
  • Sweet Jambon-Beurre
  • Tropical Sandwich
  • Tofu Sandwich

Encounter Power

Encounter Power is great to use when looking for specific Pokemon. It will increase the likelihood of encountering wild Pokemon of a particular type. For example, if you are looking for Gengar, you will want to eat or create a sandwich that boosts Encounter Power for Ghost-Types. Then, you can go to an area that Gengar frequents, and you will be more likely to encounter it.

A few sandwich recipes that will boost Encounter Power include:

  • Herbed-Sausage Sandwich (Fighting-Type)
  • Potato Salad Sandwich (Steel-Type)
  • Klawf Claw Sandwich (Grass-Type)
  • Classic Bocadillo (Ghost-Type)

Experience Point Power

The next power is a fantastic option for those looking to level up their Pokemon faster. With Experience Point Power, the Experience Points received from battling Pokemon of a particular type will increase. For example, if you ate a sandwich with Electric-Type Experience Point Power, you would want to find an Electric-Type Pokemon in the wild to obtain an increased amount of Experience Points. If you think your Pokemon are falling behind in level, this is the best way to catch them back up.

A few sandwich recipes that can boost Experience Point Power include:

  • Master Egg Sandwich (Normal-Type)
  • Master Tower Sandwich (Fighting-Type)
  • Ultra Zesty Sandwich (Ground-Type)
  • Ultra Decadent Sandwich (Ghost-Type)

Humungo Power

Pokemon come in all shapes and sizes, and this power will help you find that giant Pokemon you've been searching for. With Humungo Power, the likelihood of encountering large wild Pokemon of a particular type will increase. For example, if you are looking to catch Gyarados, you will want to eat or make something that includes Humungo Power for Water-Types. This power can be especially useful for catching certain legendaries or other high-level large Pokemon.

A few sandwich recipes that can boost Humungo Power include:

  • Sushi Sandwich (Normal-Type)
  • Master Refreshing Sandwich (Poison-Type)
  • Noodle Sandwich (Ground-Type)
  • Spicy Jambon-Beurre (Ghost-Type)

Teensy Power

Teensy Power is the exact opposite of Humungo Power: it will increase the likelihood of encountering small wild Pokemon of a particular type. Looks can sometimes be deceiving, as there are a lot of Pokemon that are incredibly strong despite being tiny. For example, if you are looking to catch Pikachu, you will want to eat something that will boost the Teensy Power of Electric-Types.

A few sandwich recipes that can boost Teensy Power include:

  • Legendary Sour Sandwich (Ice-Type)
  • Master Pickle Sandwich (Grass-Type)
  • Great Vegetable Sandwich (Bug-Type)
  • Ultra Ham Sandwich (Rock-Type)

Item Drop Power

Our next power will help any Trainers looking to create more TMs for their Pokemon. Item Drop Power will increase the materials received from wild Pokemon of a particular type. The items that Pokemon drop are used to make TMs. For example, if you eat or create a sandwich that has Item Drop Power for Water-Types when you defeat a Pokemon such as Magikarp, you will receive more Magikarp Scales than you normally would. There is an abundance of recipes that will increase your Item Drop Power.

A few sandwich recipes that can boost Item Drop Power include:

  • Ultra Tropical Sandwich (Water-Type)
  • Master Fruit Sandwich (Poison-Type)
  • Ultra Jam Sandwich (Ground-Type)
  • Master Classic Bocadillo (Ghost-Type)

Raid Power

Finally, the last power that you can gain from a recipe is Raid Power. This will increase the rewards received from Tera Raid Pokemon of a particular type. This power is especially helpful since Trainers receive large rewards from Raids already, which will increase the amount you get even further. You can use this to get Experience Candies, special items to sell for large amounts of money, Pokemon Materials to make TMs, and more.

A few sandwich recipes that can boost Raid Power include:

  • Master Fried Fillet Sandwich (Normal-Type)
  • Sweet Sandwich (Flying-Type)
  • Egg Sandwich (Rock-Type)
  • Great Five-Alarm Sandwich (Fire-Type)
