Pokemon GO Tour Johto is full of things like Collection Challenges and Timed Researches, but it also has an exclusive Special Research that includes some fantastic rewards.
Not only is this Special Research exclusive to the event, but also exclusive to those who purchased the event ticket for $11.99.
Unlike the Timed Research available during the event, the GO Tour Johto Special Research only needs to be obtained during the 12 hour event on Saturday, February 26 between 9:00 am local time and 9:00 pm local time and can be completed at anytime in the future, even though that is not recommended for reasons we will discuss further below.

Picking Your Starter
One of the very first things you do in Pokemon GO when you first start playing is picking your starter, even though it really isn’t all that relevant to the ongoing play of the game.
Considering we never got that option with the Gen II starters of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile, Pokemon GO Tour Johto is giving players a chance to pick between the three as part of the Special Resesearch for the event.
Overall, there is really not a specific starter you would be better off picking for the itself itself, as really doesn’t matter.
In the long run however, Chikorita and it’s eventual evolution into Meganium will be the better option when it comes to Pokemon GO Battle League. However, there have been no real shortage of these Pokemon in the games over the years, especially Chikorita, so feel free to just choose your favorite if you won’t without worry of it mattering too much.
