She imagines that if she rings the doorbell, her mother will come running just like the old times. But then her mother came out of the door on her own. After Ruby was diagnosed with a terrible illness when she was 4 years old, she began experiencing flashbacks to her childhood. She gave up everything for her despite the fact that she was given a 10% chance of survival.

In the next panel, we can see that Ruby, like her mom, had dreams of becoming a professional skater.
