Nintendo Switch Sports Trailer Has Fans Yearning for Wii Sports Meme Matt

Yesterday was, as is always the case, one of the most exciting times of the year for Nintendo fans all over the world, thanks to its latest Nintendo Direct.

The event saw us get information on a new Mario Strikers game, more Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, a deeper dive on some known titles and arguably, most shockingly, a follow up to Wii Sports called Switch Sports.

The game is set to include a range of returning events from Nintendo’s “Sports” series, including Bowling, Tennis and more.

However, during the showcase fans of the series noticed one glaring omission from the original game. Matt. And it’s safe to say they want him back.

Who is Matt from the Wii Title?

Matt is a legendary character from the Wii Sports series. He first appeared in the original game and is famed for being one of the most difficult characters to beat across multiple of the series’ different disciplines.

When Matt popped up, you knew you were in for a challenge and this earned the character cult status and made him subject to multiple memes.

Fans Yearn for Matt After The Nintendo Switch Sports Direct Trailer

It’s safe to say that plenty of people popped off when the Switch Sports trailer was revealed during the Nintendo Direct. However, while some people were extremely excited by the news, others were disheartened by the lack of everybody’s hero Matt, leading people share their opinions on social media.

Others wanted Matt back because they felt they owed him for his sheer dominance during the Wii Sports era:
