I sold my Mizuno MX19 iron set, 4 to SW, for £100 on ebay earlier this year. A good starter set of irons. In fine nick as well. I sold a cart bag for £30 I think, late last year on ebay as well. So that's £130 so far, which leaves £220 for a driver / woods / hybrid and a putter. Should be easily achievable.

Starter sets are okay, but you won't get the same quality components as you would in a pre-owned set of quality clubs. I know they look all nice with their matching headcovers and bag, and matching brand everything. But don't be fooled. Most of us on here have fairly mixed bags. And if you think that the whole matching image thing will make you look like a Pro. You couldn't be more wrong. (Sorry if that comes across a bit abusive, it's not meant to. I almost went down the same route as you many moons ago, and I'm so glad I didn't.)

ps. My driver is pre-owned!

If ebay scares you. There are plenty of folks on here that will take a look at the item and give you an opinion of them with regards to it's value. Just beware of new clubs at seriously discounted prices. Fakes!

Sorry if the tone hasn't come across as friendly as I would have liked. (Several beers and a couple of large Scotch's!!)
