ATLANTA, Ind. (WTHR) - Crews spent several hours putting out a fire Friday morning at Beck's Superior Hybrids.
The company is located at 6767 East 276th Street in northern Hamilton County.
14 agencies responded to the fire, reported shortly after 8:00.
Jackson Township fire officials said the blaze was located in a building used to process corn cobs from waste material, the output becoming an animal bedding product. Several thousand corn cobs were on fire when crews arrived.
A second alarm was sounded. No injuries were reported.
While the fire remains under investigation, the fire department said it appears that the machine or a conveyer belt may have caused the fire, which subsequently spread to a dust collection system inside the building.
