MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — He has made a name for himself on the basketball court and the baseball diamond. Now, Michael Jordan is taking the fishing world by storm.
Jordan caught a 24-pound dolphin fish at the annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina, the tournament announced in a Facebook post. The post was accompanied by photos showing Jordan holding the massive catch.
This is Jordan’s third year competing in the tournament, the News and Observer reported. In 2021, his team reeled in a 25-pound mahi-mahi, and in the previous year, they caught a 442-pound blue marlin.
Jordan is from Wilmington, and told WITN that he looks forward to coming to the tournament, saying, “Rarely do I get the chance to come down to Morehead City, you know I grew up in Wilmington, but every chance I get, I look forward to coming back, and the people have been very nice.”
Jordan’s team, named for his boat “Catch 23,” was ranked seventh in the dolphin division, with the heaviest dolphin caught as of Wednesday weighing in at 29.5 pounds. The tournament ends Sunday, June 19.
