As fans of the tactical shooter Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege are well aware, the title was renewed by Ubisoft to receive a second season of content. This means in 2017 we'll be seeing eight new operators, four more maps, weapon additions and more. This first batch of content is going by the code name "Velvet Shell." Earlier we saw the Coastline map; now it's time to meet our first operator.
Jackal hails from Spain's famous GEO, or Grupo Especial de Operaciones. His full name is Ryad Ramírez Al-Hassar, which is quite a mouthful during an operation, so you'll be glad he just goes by "Jackal." Jackal has "underwent extensive survival courses, tactical desert navigation programs, and specialized combat diving courses to gain this edge."

He comes with a scarred past — the murder of his brother — that fueled his desire to join the GEO: "The Ramírez brothers first appeared in official records on October 8th, 1985 when Ryad was found next to his brother’s dead body in an abandoned house in El Principe Alfonso. Ryad was 17 years old and required urgent medical assistance. With no witness, no murder weapon, and no clear motive, the local authorities treated Faisal’s death as an inconclusive case of street violence."

Operation Velvet Shell
For primary weapons, Jackal packs the C7E and PDW9. His secondary weapons are the ITA 12S and USP 40. Ubisoft isn't revealing his special ability until this weekend at the Six Invitational. For all things "Velvet Shell," the Six Invitational is the place to watch. The event will be ongoing this weekend from February 3rd-5th. The content itself is scheduled to release on February 7th. The map is free for everyone. Meanwhile, the "Velvet Shell" operators are included with the Year Two pass or are available for everyone else to purchase with in-game currency after a one-week exclusivity period, which in this case will expire on February 14th.

A free play weekend has also been announced to coincide with the event. The free play weekend goes live at 3:01 a.m. EST on February 2nd and runs until 2:59 a.m. EST on February 6th.
