Marvel brings back the OG villain

High Evolutionary’s genocidal tendencies and narcissistic approach to life make him an utterly detestable antagonist. Chukwudi Iwuji, being the perfect cast for the role, has portrayed the character well. In the latest, third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, the antagonist won’t see an end, unlike other superhero movies.

For those who haven’t seen the movie yet, this certainly serves as a spoiler for them. Going with the old theory that truth triumphs over evil, James Gunn has given the film a dramatic twist where the beloved Rocket, decides to spare High Evolutionary’s life as he chooses mercy over vengeance. With many such twists and turns in the movie, the audience will get to experience the essence of the Marvel Universe.

For those who missed the glimpse of the OG villain and were skeptical about his survival, the High Evolutionary is brought back to Knowhere by Drax. With its worthwhile ending, the movie serves its audience well. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the Marvel Cinematic Universe marks its last film directed by James Gunn as he moves to the DCU.

Every powerful superhero is incomplete without a dreadful villain. And Chukwudi Iwuji, with his performance as the High Evolutionary, has served as an impeccable villain in the MCU who possesses all the evil qualities.

His existence and the story behind his survival have certainly glorified the deuteragonist Rocket and served the audience well. For a few, High Evolutionary’s return was startling, whereas for others it was unnecessary. Check out fans’ reactions below to High Evolutionary’s return:

This might just be me but the whole delete scenes and alternate endings are lame. Yeah it’s great to see what a film would have become but IMO it fucks with the story. Not a fan of deleted scenes

Good!! Great villain and we need more of him in the future.

It would have been nice seeing that scene in the film to confirm the High Evolutionary survived but it likely could have messed with the tone and flow at the end, which was perfectly done.
