While we wish we could say this was a royal holiday decree given from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge themselves—we see you in that giant shared sweater monstrosity—it was actually in honor of the Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day campaign. The organization, People reports, hopes people will be encouraged to wear tacky sweaters and donate to the cause because of the royal family.
"We are delighted to be able to support Save the Children by having our royal wax figures join in with Christmas Jumper Day campaign in a seriously stylish way," Madame Tussauds London general manager Edward Fuller said in a statement. "Throughout the festive period, our guests can enjoy seeing Her Majesty and the royal family in their jumpers. We’ll be encouraging everyone to take a truly unique picture with the royals and donate in any way they can."
Save the Children helps "bring essentials like health care, education, protection, and food to the millions of children around the world who are missing out on the most basic support," the organization's website reads.
Helping kids, celebrating the holidays, and getting a selfie with Prince Harry wearing a penguin on his chest? Sounds like a merry Christmas to us. [Ed. Note: To learn more about Save the Children in the United States, visit their website here.]
