A call came into the Butte Fire Department just before 1 p.m. Sunday of a fire at the popular Butte restaurant, Sparky’s Garage Bar & Grill.

Firefighters responded quickly to the blaze at 22 E. Park St., which was contained to the kitchen area.

Sparky's Garage was damaged in early November by a fire that started in the kitchen. The building was saved by quick responses from employees and the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department, according to the restaurant.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Kelly J. Lee, the fire appeared to have started near one of the kitchen appliances.

“A worker saw smoke coming from one of the appliances and called 911, which was good,” Lee said.

Lee said the kitchen area was burned pretty bad and sustained smoke and water damage. Smoke lingered throughout the restaurant.

Firefighters were on the scene until just after 4 p.m.

“The crew did a really good job of getting the fire out,” said Lee, who was thankful no one was hurt and that the building was saved.
