"Kensington Palace has double checked and is adamant the hat is faux fur. It won’t confirm the make. Is this #fakefurnews?" Richard Palmer, royal correspondent for the U.K.'s Daily Express, wrote on Twitter. Eugenia Kim declined to comment for this piece.

On the product page for the Rain Wool Hand-Knit Beanie (which has been updated to reflect its recent royal endorsement), Eugenia Kim notes that while the style is "hand-knit...with metal yarn & gray fox pom," customers can also order it with a faux-fur pom instead. "Please note: this style is also available to be made to order with a faux-fur pom," along with an email to contact about inquiries.
The 36-year-old royal, who's expecting her third child, has been photographed sporting many other hats while traveling through Sweden and Norway on the royal tour, including one of her favorites, an alpaca fur hat by Lacorine in Oslo. (The company's site says the hat is "derived from natural herd loss in the bitter Peruvian winters and handmade using Fair Trade principles.") In total, Middleton wore 11 outfits in just four days. Now that Kensington Palace has cleared up the controversy, we can go back to focusing on just how chic her maternity style has been.
