There's a new snack craze sweeping the nation, and it's not a health food or anything sweet.

It's beef jerky.

Sales of jerky are up 12 percent across the country.

Folks spent almost $3 billion dollars last year on the salty, savory goodness.

And, this isn't your dad's beef jerky.

There are boutique brands moving in with crazy flavors, like Bloody Mary and even crawfish.

Though, they aren't all that weird. You can find tamer flavors, like teriyaki or barbecue.

What's your favorite flavor?

There are even a few gourmet jerky options around Indiana.

There's Shirely Farm Jerky in Mooreland in Henry County. Closer to home, there's Tommy's Jerky, northwest of Greenwood at Meridian and County Line Road.

If you want to stay home, the Jerky Snob is a jerky delivery service based in Indianapolis. You can get a crate of jerky delivered once a month, or even order a la carte from options like mango curry and sriracha.
