Jeff Halperin was born on September 25. His family is originally from Colombia and he is of Latino origin.

Halperin is a former photojournalist and an entrepreneur, who is renowned for being the husband of Kari Lake, a popular news anchor-turned-politician, Kari Lake.

Jeff Halperin career

Jeff Halperin started his career working as a news editor and journalist. He and his wife, Kari Lake, both worked at the same local TV station in Phoenix, Arizona.

According to TIME magazine, Halperin worked as a videographer for Phoenix’s NBC subsidiary, KPNX-TV, where Lake also worked as a weekend anchor for four years before migrating to Albany to work for a year before eventually delving into politics. He was also formerly employed as a photojournalist at NBC and as a news photographer at WNYT-TV in Albany, New York.

Halperin decided to venture out on his own as an independent videographer. He is the owner of ZenHD, an Arizona-based production firm. He advertises himself as a skilled Director of Photography (DP), Cameraman, Camera Operator, Cinematographer and Shooter.

Although his company is not listed as an independent business on the Arizona Secretary of State’s website, Halperin did register a new business called “Awake Media LLC” in Maricopa County in March 2021, with his wife listed as the manager.

Halperin’s professional work before filming footage for his wife’s campaign included sports videography. He worked on an ESPN E:60 documentary entitled: “Enes Kanter: Enemy of the State,” which is about the political activism of professional basketball player Enes Kanter in his native country of Turkey.

The documentary earned Halperin and his team a 2020 Emmy nomination in the “Outstanding Sports Journalism” category, although they did not win.

Lake’s campaign for governor was not successful as she lost to  Katie Hobbs of the Democratic Party. Despite the loss, she remains a prominent figure in Arizona’s conservative circles and is expected to continue her involvement in politics.

Jeff Halperin and Kari Lake tied the knot on September 26, 1998. Before their marriage. Lake had previously been married to Tracy Finnegan, an electrical engineer. However, their marriage broke down and the pair decided to go their separate ways.
