As the Colts former quarterback's image as a soldier is shutting down, a new one seems to be emergin.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Just as we said goodbye to Capt. Andrew Luck and his squirrel oil comes word from his apparent successor.

The viral Twitter account embracing the Colts former quarterback's image as a soldier is shutting down, but several accounts from "Lt. Col. Brissett" have become active.

Dearest mother —
Our unit’s commander has suddenly and permanently holstered his sidearm, just days before battle is set to commence. I have been tasked to be next in charge and lead the charge. I am anxious, but full of faith. I shall write you from the battlefields.

Another of the accounts tweeted to Capt. Luck's mother.

Dearest Mrs. Luck,

I write to tell you that the Captain’s wounds have mounted to the point that he must be taken from the front line.

It is with fortitude that I rise in his absence to lead our troops through our last exercises before our deployment.

We shall fight for him.

That message was followed by one dated August 27:

Captain -

Our new battalion has grown to 300 strong in only two moons.

We face a group of jungle cats on Thor’s Day, but our bravest shall bring up the rear. Rest is needed as our 1st battle is on the horizon.

Training has brought a wolvish nature to me. I am ready.

Reaction to the new accounts appears to be mixed, though several commenters apparently preferring the original account.

As with the creative messages of Capt. Luck, the creator of the Brissett tweets is not known.

Just days after the real Andrew Luck announced he is retiring from the NFL, so did the Captain. In a post to his more than 540,000 followers, Capt. Andrew Luck said: "A heartfelt thank you. And a fond farewell."
