Inmate found dead identified as Thomas McGovern

The inmate that was found dead Friday night in his cell at the Butte-Silver Bow Detention Center has been identified as Thomas McGovern, 43, of Butte.

McGovern’s body was transported to the Montana Crime Lab in Missoula, where a cause of death has yet to be determined. The findings will be released after the results of the autopsy and toxicology testing.

Agents with the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation are currently conducting a full investigation into the death.
