However, looking back at the record-breaking 1997 film, Winslet has a few regrets as she believes that the youth took the best of her as she agreed to the iconic n*de scene in the movie.

James Cameron’s 1997 romantic/disaster film is a classic and the movie has shaped the careers of rising stars— Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Now looking back at the film, Winslet feels that she went too far in the movie agreeing to the n*ude scene that stuck in the minds of the audience. “I’m not going to look. I’ll be in the bar by that point,” Winslet once told The Sun about the scene (via Unilad). “I wish I hadn’t shown so much flesh but I was young and I knew I had things to prove,” she added. In a separate interview with Yahoo, the actor further revealed the aftermath of doing the scene as she was disturbed by fans bringing the n*de photograph of her to sign autographs on it.

“I never sign an autograph in this photo. This makes me very uncomfortable. Why do people do this? I am regularly asked to sign this photo. I didn’t want it to become a photograph that I would continue to see [seventeen years] later. And, despite everything, it’s quite strange because this particular scene still haunts me today” she said (via Unilad).

For Winslet, resurfacing the photograph after years was quite humiliating as she had to relive the memories of the uncomfortable situation again and again. Still, the scene will remain iconic, and no one including Winslet will forget the scene.

Although it would be a nightmare for Winslet to let her kids watch Titanic, she is embroiled in several moments from the movie. Appearing in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Winslet revealed that she got hypothermia while filming Titanic in the water. But it was not the only vivid memory she had, the 48-year-old also revealed a few never-before-told secrets from the set of the movie. Winslet revealed that DiCaprio didn’t draw the picture in her iconic n*de scene.

“No, Jim Cameron drew that picture. I don’t know if,  that’s maybe no one knows that until this moment right now. Jim Cameron drew it and he did sketch me but he did actually draw the picture. He did sketch me, he did actually sketch me, in a bathing suit,” Winslet revealed.

Speaking of another secret, the actor revealed that she auditioned with Matthew McConaughey as Paramount initially wanted him in the lead role. “I auditioned with Matthew, isn’t that weird?” she revealed. “Never said that in public before.” The actor also added that the audition was fantastic but Cameron insisted on DiCaprio.

Titanic is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
