How To Play Nintendo Switch Sports Online Multiplayer

Nintendo Switch Sports was released around the world earlier today and thanks to the online multiplayer, you can now jump in and compete against your friends around the world.

Early review copies of Nintendo Switch Sports were sent to press a few weeks before launch, but the online multiplayer functionality was unavailable. But now with the release date finally here, we can all jump in and play against each other.

If you’ve just picked up your copy and want to know the ins and outs of playing online, here is everything you need to know.

How To Play Nintendo Switch Sports Online

It goes without saying, but if you want to play Nintendo Switch Sports online, the first step you need to take is actually purchasing a copy of the game. Fans can visit the Nintendo Store to purchase a digital copy, or any of your local retailers to pick up a physical version.

Once you have Nintendo Switch Sports downloaded and installed, go ahead and boot up the game from the Switch Menu.

The main menu of Nintendo Switch Sports will present you with three different options:

• Play Globally (Play online and earn items, 1-2 players)
• Play Locally (Play with people in the same room, 1-4 players)
• Play with Friends (Play with faraway friends online, 1-2 players)

Selecting ‘Play Globally’ will allow you to play online with players around the world. Once selected you will then need to pick whether you’re playing on your own or with another player. After that you will then be able to create your character by customizing their appearance and name.

Your game will then connect to the internet and the following message will appear:

“Play online and compete with players from around the world. Other players will be able to see your nickname, in-game appearance, title, and other play data. Note: Sometime your opponent will be a CPU”.

Dismiss the message and you will then be able to select which game mode you want to play and begin searching for a game, enjoy!
