The UBA transfer code is a USSD function operated by the United Bank For Africa (UBA), one of the largest financial services groups in Nigeria. The USSD code enables users to conduct financial transactions on their mobile phones and it provides customers with a secure, practical, and economical alternative to going to the bank for financial transactions.

The UBA transfer code, *919#, also known as the UBA magic code, gives its users access to banking services such as opening a UBA account, paying utility bills online, buying airtime for themselves and loved ones, paying for flights, getting account statements and collecting instant loans. All these are done on customers’ mobile phones without an Internet connection.

Before having full access to the mobile banking capabilities, a user must register and activate the general UBA mobile banking code, *919#, to enable him or her to make financial transactions with UBA. By simply dialling the short number and following the instructions that appear on your screen, customers can register and activate the code without an automated teller machine (ATM) card and unlock their mobile banking services.

The activation instructions for the UBA USSD code are as follows:

  • Dial the USSD code *919#. Accept the mobile banking terms (charges) by selecting “Accept“
  • Press 1 to start the sign-up process for the USSD code
  • Choose between registering with a NUBAN account number or UBA prepaid
  • Choose UBA prepaid with the pin if you registered for the prepaid account
  •  If you are a regular customer, select the “Account with PIN” option
  • Enter your account number or prepaid number
  • Choose your USSD code pin, which requires the four-digit pin of your UBA Debit card
  • Enter and confirm the pin again to complete your USSD registration

How to use the UBA transfer code without an ATM card

Dial *919*30*Amount# from the registered phone number and follow the prompts to begin a cardless transaction and complete a cardless withdrawal from an ATM.

How to create a UBA transfer pin

To conduct mobile banking transactions, every user of a UBA account must create a secure transfer pin. 

All USSD banking transactions must be authorised using the four-digit UBA transfer pin. You have two options if you believe your pin has been compromised: reset it or delete your account.

Here is how to create a transfer pin:

  • On the phone connected to your UBA account, dial *919#
  • Customers must register using either their prepaid card number or their account number
  • Create a four-digit mobile transaction pin by following the specified instructions

To reset your pin: 

  • On your mobile phone, dial *919#
  • Press the number 6 once more for the next option, then press the number 8
  • You will be given two choices after pressing the number 4 for the pin setup
  • Using the account number, reset the pin
  • Reset your pin with a prepaid card; select your preferred method
  • Then enter your old pin and replace it with a new, four-digit pin of your choosing after carefully following the instructions
