Lets not forget how dangerous changing a bulb can be. Let me give you the best way from over 50 years of changing lightbulbs. BTW I believe those metal bulbs from KD are the best. Those new plastic clones break too easily. [:P]
First, enter the room you want to change the bulb in. I've tried to develop a way to change it on the workbench but haven't been too successful yet.[:)] You know this reminds me of a story , [soapbox], back from when there were no light bulb standards at all. You could buy your bulbs from one maker and not really be sure they would work with another makers bulb.[:(] That is until the birth of NABC.[:D] The National Association of Bulb Changers have really set the standards. They have worked closely with the manufacturers and users since 1934 assuring that all bulbs are created within a narrow set of standards and recommended practices, so they would all work together. I believe the original membership even included the publisher, Al Bulbbach, of our favorite magazine, The Model Bulbchanger,[D)] and his first editor, Lynn Bulbcott. I think it was Lynn who came up with the phrase, Dream it, Plan it, Change it!! Like I said, the NABC had developed these standards that have served us well for over 75yrs and now there is a vocal minority that wants to do things their own way.[censored] This group is sponsored by MBH, Mikes Bulb House,[V] who wants to try and change everything from the way we've been doing it for years. These guys wants to use a MUCH larger bulb than we are accustomed to using, and to top it off, his sockets have THREE wires instead of two!!! [:O] That to me, just looks so, so, unreal. [:(!] Plus he wants to give us the ability to have the bulb do more things under his wiring called , I think DCS. That stands for Digital Changing System bulbs. That third wire does allow us to have two different lights from one bulb, but we have to buy MBH's system to take full advantage of it and trouble is, a lot of us use DCC, Digital Changing Circuit bulbs, and even more use just plain old DC, Don't Change bulbs . Which if we use one of MBH's bulbs we can only use one level of the lights under DCC/DC. [%-)] MBH won't release the details of the system to the NABC, [banghead][banghead][banghead] so we can really see if the system is a real improvement to what the majority of bulbers already use. Didn't one of our members propose a test to one of MBH's [C):-)] employees to hook up one of their DCS bulbs to his DCC bulbs and show for once and for all which was best. But as far as I can tell the test hasn't happened.[?][?][?][?][?] Plus, given the fact that MBH's strong arm tactics in trying to claim by patent that he invented bulb changing [:P] has turned a lot of people off to his product, I believe that he will have a real hard time getting us to change to his system..... Now where was I in my original story[?][?][?][?][?]
