Guide for Marvel's Midnight Suns

Updated on April 08, 2026
Overview
Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses that make them better suited to certain roles in a party. For example, Blade is great at eliminating Minions and applying damage over time, Majik is great for crowd control and gathering enemies together, Marvel has a solid damage output. You’ll learn each hero’s playstyle as you go but I’ve detailed them more in the Character Guides.
Heroes also have a number of stats that determine their combat effectiveness. These are as follows:
Health: The HP of the Hero and how much damage they can take before being KO’ed.
Offence: The damage output of a hero and the base modifier for how much damage they do with cards.
Critical Chance: The likelihood of a card being critical when it’s drawn.
Critical Damage: The damage increase of a critical card.
Fortitude: How much Block the Hero gains at the start of the mission.
Power: The size of their AOE (Area of Effect) attacks.
Resilience: How likely they are to resist a negative effect when one is applied.
Strength: How far they are able to knockback enemies with their abilities.
Willpower: How much percentage of their HP they regain at the start of the Hero’s turn.
Please note: The builds I've listed for each character are just the builds I found I liked and are just suggestions.
Hunter
Hunter is the main character. They are an original character (so far as I know) and are the child of Lilith, the game’s antagonist. They offer the most versatility in terms of playstyles, as they can be whoever is needed based upon the cards you choose for their build.
Light and Dark Points
Two of the grindiest achievements in the game are to earn maximum dark balance, and maximum light balance. This means you’ll need a total of 600 points, with a 400/200 split. I personally started Dark, then went Light as soon as I got the achievement. It’s best to focus on this achievement as you play the game as dialogue is by far the easiest way to earn points. If you finish the game and are out of dialogue before you reach the achievement, fear not. It’s still possible, but will take a LOT more grinding.
You can earn up to two light/dark points after a combat by playing 4 or 8 cards of the same balance (which can also be done in the THREAT Room). You can also earn a light/dark point by lounging in the pool during certain moon phases (dark for new moon, light for full moon). Finally, you can earn light/dark points by “helping” Heroes when they have requests.
If you’ve completed the game and are full on one and didn’t realise there was an achievement for going to the other side, you’re best off starting a new game, or new game plus, and going from the beginning.

Challenges
Challenges are unlocked by completing research in the Forge and are how you obtain Legendary combat abilities for your Heroes. When you purchase the upgrade you’ll be able to complete Hunter’s “Child of Darkness” challenge, and more challenges will unlock with Heroes who you’ve achieved level 5 friendship with. It’s only necessary to complete one of these challenges for achievements (unless you have the DLC) but they’re extremely helpful for learning characters and most of the abilities you earn can make combat trivial.
Whilst completing a challenge, you’ll notice that card plays are disabled, as is move and (most of the time) redraw. Your starting hand will always be the same, as will the layout and health of enemies. You must complete the challenge in a single turn (for most characters), earning the legendary ability once you’ve fulfilled the requirements.
Within each character’s section is how to beat their challenge if you are struggling, as there is often only one way to do so. When you’ve completed your first one, you’ll earn the “You Absolute Legend” ACHIEVEMENT. I’d absolutely recommend doing at least Hunter’s, as the legendary you get is one of the most powerful abilities in the game.
Hunter
In this challenge, you’ll have to knock around Soulless and get one of them towards the crystal, so you can break it and beat the challenge.
There are three Soulless on the map, one of them (who we will name Greg) will be used to smash the crystal after knocking him about, and the other two are used to position yourself so you can knock Greg where he needs to go.
Start off by using a “Charge” to knockback the Soulless to your immediate 10 o’clock (Greg), angling the knockback as far as you can to the right so he is still alive and stops just before hitting the rock wall in front of you. Next, use another Charge to hit and KO the Soulless behind Greg. You should now be right next to Greg, use another Charge to knock him again, this time all the way to the left, keeping him alive as you do so. Use another Charge, this time on the Soulless to your right (NOT the one you’ve been knocking around). Use your last charge to move Greg towards the crystal, again, keeping him alive. Finally, use your Whip to knock Greg into the crystal, acquiring Bladestorm. Use Bladestorm to destroy the Black Crystal, and you’ll have completed the challenge.
Blade
Blade’s challenge will be pretty straight-forward. Play a Quick Strike card on the Soulless on the right, then the Relentless card on that same enemy. Play your newly acquired Make ‘em Bleed, then Strike, with one attack focused on the Soulless on the left, and the other on the right. Use Daywalker, with all attacks targeting the Soulless with the legendary. Quick Strike the Soulless on the left to KO it, then use Reaper on the last enemy. Lastly, use Glaive on the crystal to complete the challenge.
Captain America
Start off by using a Punch to attack the Soulless to your immediate right, then use your newly acquired Best Defence card. Use the Shield Bounce to target three of the Soulless, ignoring the one at the back-right (the one with the Shield Bash card). Use Punch on the last of the Whispers, then use Tactician. Now targeting the Incarnation, use a Shield Bash, then a Punch, then a Shield Bash. Lastly, use your legendary to target the crystal and complete the challenge.
Captain Marvel
Start off by targeting the Whisper. Use your Cosmic Ray and Quick Jab cards. Now use Fist of Radiance to knock it into the crystal, then Go Binary. Knee Strike the Whisper to KO it. Use One Step Ahead, then your newly drawn Regroup. Use the mission card All In, then Fist of Radiance, finishing off the crystal with Rain of Blows. Use Supernova on the crystal to finish the challenge.
Deadpool
This one’s gonna be confusing. Numbering the Whispers 1-7, left to right, use Spread The Love against Whispers 3 and 5 (the ones with cards). Use Death From Above to take out the Whisper with the Pain Pinata card, then use that card to target (now) Whispers 3-5. Spread The Love on Whispers 1 and 4, Death From Above on 2, then Mag Dump on the last one. Lastly, use Burning Sensation on the Incarnation.
Completing this will also earn you the “That Special Feeling” achievement.
Doctor Strange
There’ll be two sets of Whispers here, one set will have 10 health and the other 15. Use one of your Bolt of Balthakks to take out one of the Whispers with 10 health (doesn’t matter which one). Use Blessing of the Vishanti, then a second Bolt on one of the Whispers with 15 health. Use Eye of Agamotto to regain two of your Bolts, then use one of your less damaging Bolts on the last Whisper with 10 health. Do the same with the last Whisper, leaving your bolt with 22 damage in your hand. Use the last Eye of Agamotto, then the last Blessing. Attack the Incarnation with your Bolt that does 27 damage. Use your newly acquired Resonance card, then use all four Bolts on the crystal. Finally, use Seven Suns of Cinnibus on the Black Crystal to complete the challenge.
Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider’s can be a little tricky, and requires careful placement of the character and the enemies. Focus on the four ‘whispers’ rather than the ‘incarnation’, as you’ll use your legendary to take them out. We’ll number the Whispers 1-4, left to right. Use a Lash card to knock 3 into 1, then another to knock 4 in between 2 and 3, so all 4 are within range of Judgement. Target 4 with Judgement and you should be able to take out 1 and 3, leaving you in a perfect position to use Retribution to take out the last 2. Lastly, use Penance Stare on the Incarnation to beat the challenge.
Hulk
Hulk’s challenge is a little bit different, in that to get the legendary card you need to acquire maximum Rage. Star off by targeting the Whisper with the card, and playing Gamma Kick, Smash, and Crush to KO it. Use the Rampage card you just got against the three Whispers on the left, then Gamma Kick the Whisper on the right. Use Let’s Do This. Use your last Smash against a Whisper (doesn’t matter which). Finally, use your legendary to wipe the floor with the lot.
Iron Man
Iron Man’s challenge took a while for me to figure out, as it also allows 1 redraw and only has one enemy, the crystal. Star off by redrawing one of the New Plans, then use Heads Up on Iron Man. Play Precision, then Leave it to Me twice. Use of your Surgical Strike cards, then another Heads Up, and your other Surgical Strike. Use your three Blast cards to finish the crystal off. Lastly, use Hellfire Beam to destroy the next crystal to complete the challenge.
Majik
The parameters of Majik’s challenge are a little different, as you only fail if Majik is downed on her turn. You need to acquire her Legendary card Darkchylde to survive though.
Start off by activating Limbo’s Grasp to do extra damage to portalled enemies. This time, Greg will be the Soulless that has the legendary card. Use your first Trap Door card to move Greg next to the green leyline, placing him in such a way that you’ll be able to knock him into it with your next card. Knock him back using Quick Soul Slash. Using your next Trap Door, do the same with the red leyline, then use your Kick card to knock him into it. Finally, place your portal card so that Greg will hit another Soulless (doesn’t matter which one) as you send him through it with Soul Blast.
Play your Darkchylde card you just obtained and end your turn to complete the challenge.
Morbius
Use Mist Form, then use Claw on Whisper 5. Use Quick Claw on Whisper 4, then use Bloodlust. Shadow Strike all three remaining Whispers, then Claw Whisper 1. Claw the new Whisper 1, then Shadow Strike with two attacks targeting 1, and the last targeting 2. Use Feeding Frenzy on the last Whisper, Claw the Incarnation, then KO it with Undying Fury.
Completing this will also earn you the “Bond of Blood” achievement.
Nico
Nico’s challenge, similar to Iron Man’s, allows you two redraws. Redraw the Blood Magic card, as well as the Empower card. Use your new Blood Magic to apply Strengthened to yourself. Use both Double Ups. Use a Witchstorm to target the left-most Soulless, then another on the right-most. Then use both Witchfires to acquire the legendary. Use the legendary to complete the challenge.
Scarlet Witch
Use both of your Quick Toss cards to bring the two Whispers that are far away close to you. Use both Hex Fields. Use your Hex Bolt on the bottom-left Whisper to gain another Hex Bolt, then use that on the top-left Whisper to gain another. KO the last two Whispers with that Hex Bolt, then use No More to KO the Incarnation and complete the challenge.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man’s challenge allows one move and also has environmental attacks. Start off by using the Opportunist, then moving to knock the slider to your left into the Incarnation behind it, making sure that the knockback also takes out the Whisper behind it. Move behind the slider to your left, doing the same thing as before. Use Special Delivery to knock the last Whisper into the Incarnation, then use the last slider to knock the Incarnation into the wall. Use your legendary card and take out the crystal with your new cards.
Storm
This time, we’ll number the Whispers in front of you 1-3, and have Lefty and Righty as the last two that are behind you. Use Gale Force to knock 2 into 1, then use Goddess’ Blessing. Use Livewire to Stun the Whisper about to attack (Whisper 1), then use Arc, with two attacks targeting Whisper 2 and the last on 1. Use both remaining Arc cards to KO Whisper 1. Lefty and Righty will now attack but you’ll survive. Use Vortex to knock them both into the leylines on either side, then use Hellstorm on the crystal to complete the challenge.
Completing this will also earn you the “Blessings of the Goddess” achievement.
Venom
Use Web Toss to throw the Incarnation with “Tasty Brains” into the leyline, then use Lethal Embrace on the Incarnation with Insatiable Hunger. Use a Tendril Strike, targeting both enemies with cards, then use Insatiable Hunger. Spike Burst the three Incarnations clustered together, Tendril Strike the 2 that survive, then use Tasty Brains on the last one. Use Assimilation, then take out the Whispers using the cards you get. Challenge complete!
Completing this will also earn you the “Lethal Protector” achievement.
Wolverine
We’ll number the Whispers 1-4 again. Start by using Lethal Pounce with both attacks on 1 to gain Strengthened. Use a Power Slash on 2 and 3, then Chain Swipes with two attacks on 4, and one on 3. Use Stink of Fear on 1 and 2, then use Let’s Do This. Use Eviscerate, with 2 attacks each targeting the remaining Whispers. Lastly, use Midnight Special to complete the challenge.
