Find The Missing Boots is a quest you’ll encounter during the first act of the game and it rewards you with one of two items upon completion. You could also choose to keep the boots instead if you don't mind having an uncompleted quest in your log.

How To Trigger The Missing Boots Quest

Baldur's Gate 3 Underdark

You’ll run into this quest while exploring the Underdark. There are several ways to reach the Underdark from the overworld, the easiest of which involves using the well found in Blighted Village. Once there, you’ll want to make your way to the Decrepit Village. You can find the Decrepit Village right next to the Beach, which can be found southeast of the Sussur Tree and southwest of the Myconid Colony. The Beach is where you’ll find the boat that lets you travel to the Grymforge, so you can’t miss it.

Once you’re in the village, keep an eye out for a Duergar called Gekh Coal. If you don’t interact with him, he’ll interact with you as soon as you get close enough. Talk to Gekh Coal to learn that a Deep Gnome slave recently ran away with a pair of valuable boots. The Duergar wants you to retrieve the boots at all costs and return them to their rightful owner, Sargeant Thrinn.

How To Complete The Missing Boots Quest

BG3 Thulla, Find The Missing Boots quest

Your next order of business is to travel to the Myconid Colony. There, you’ll find a Deep Gnome named Thulla who's been poisoned by a Duergar. This is the runaway slave mentioned by Gekh Coal and talking to her triggers the quest Cure the Poisoned Gnome. If you have some Antidote or Elixir of Sylvanus on you, you can give it to her to cure the poison and she’ll give you the Boots of Speed as a reward. Alternatively, you can just take the boots off her and go about your business.

With the boots in hand, you can now travel to the Grymforge to return them to Sargeant Thrinn. You’ll find the sergeant south of the Ancient Sigil Circle trying to find a way to free True Soul Nere. Speak to her and give her the Boots of Speed to complete the quest. As a reward for returning the boots, you’ll be able to choose between the Bracing Band and the Armour of Uninhibited Kushigo. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get both, so choose carefully.
