Twitch streamers have been long since plagued with unnecessary bans. And it frustrates streamers. The flawed guideline policies of Twitch are the reason streamers have been receiving bans right & left. And this has become the major reason why many famous streamers have been switching platforms. So in a way, Twitch itself has boosted its rival platform, Kick. Moreover, the famous streamer, Asmongold, believes that Twitch should only ban streamers if they break the law.
The guidelines of Twitch are so vast that they create numerous loopholes. And navigating through these can be a tricky matter for streamers. Furthermore, the platform places strict rules on violence, sexual content, and hateful conduct, which is well justified. However, it has another community guideline against breaking a specific game’s terms of service. Moreover, streamers have found this particular guideline really faulty.
And the recent victim of this ridiculous guideline is a popular World of Warcraft streamer, TinyViolin69. Although what he did on stream was neither any violent content nor any sexual one. It was just a gamer trying to do some tomfoolery IN-GAME. Furthermore, this led to streamer getting banned. Moreover, Asmongold touched upon this matter in his recent Twitch live stream.
Asmongold believes Twitch should only ban streamers if they break the law
In a recent stream, Asmongold reviewed a clip where some World of Warcraft streamers were talking about TinyViolin69 grieving them. And then, the streamer went over to TinyViolin69’s channel and heard the guy say it wasn’t some random grieving but “judgment day.” Furthermore, Asmongold discovered that Twitch had banned the streamer because of this incident. And the reason was due to the platform’s guideline breaking a specific game’s terms of service. And grieving in these games is indeed against the game’s TOS.

Giving his opinion on this incident, the streamer said,
“I don’t think that anybody should get banned for anything unless things that are like against the law. Like if Blizzard has a problem with him doing that, they can give him the Tyler1 treatment.”
He further said, “Ban any account that he’s on and do that, but they don’t. So like how is it Twitch’s responsibility to make this decision?” And fans actually found these questions reasonable. Although going on the route of legal & illegal can be really farfetched, Twitch needs to work on amending its current guidelines.
Over the past few months, they have been many major shifts from Twitch over to other streaming platforms due to these bans. Furthermore, StreamerBans, a tracking site, has notified that Twitch has banned around 152 streamers over the last 30 days, each for different reasons. So the hour of the need for Twitch is to look after their community guidelines in-depth. And the higher-ups need to make sure to flush all the unnecessary rules which don’t favor the streamers.
