Everybody's Talking About The To-Do List, but This Is the One Reason I Really Loved It

See, the '90s had no shortage of awesome teen movies—but, to me, each of them felt specific to an area, or a type of clique, or a specific scheme. Maybe your high school experience mirrored the ones in our precious Clueless, or the romantic 10 Things I Hate About You, or the twisty Cruel Intentions (I hope not!), but mine did not. High school movies from the '90s were often sort of ahead of their time, both in terms of being a little hipper than their era and in terms of the kids acting about twice as old as I did in high school.
Enter The To-Do List, in which Aubrey Plaza's Brandy makes lists in magic marker, has to do her teenage phone bidding on the family land line (gasp!) and wears oversize T-shirts not unlike the Cher Heart of Stone tour one I spent most of 1992 through 1996 in. Most important, she's as bewildered as every girl coming of age in the Land Before Internet was—clueless with a lowercase c.
Plus, there's a Kaboodle in the opening credits. I would send you to the theater for that reason alone. Enjoy.
What teen movie reminds you most of your own high school days?
