Dead Island 2 has a new release date, and we know what you're thinking, but no, it's not been delayed again. Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver have announced that Dead Island 2 will now launch a week earlier than planned.

Alongside announcing that Dead Island 2 had gone gold, the team also confirmed that the zombie survival game has a new release date. Instead of launching on April 28th, Dead Island 2 will now release a week earlier than planned on April 21st for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.

Dead Island 2 release date pushed forward

No reason was given for pushing Dead Island 2's release date forward. If we were to speculate, it could be that Dambuster and Deep Silver didn't want to compete with EA and Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which initially was supposed to launch in March, but was delayed to April 28th to give the team more time to polish the game.

Dead Island 2 has had a rocky development since its announcement back in 2014. The project has seen numerous developers over the past nine years and has been delayed more times than we can remember. Now it seems that Dead Island 2 is finally in a state where it will shamble onto consoles soon and, hopefully, onto our list of the best Xbox zombie games.

Are you happy to see that Dead Island 2 is finally launching soon? Will you be picking this one up in April? Let us know!
