CKay acknowledges Tekno, Runtown’s influence in taking Afrobeats global

Nigerian singer and producer, Chukwuka Ekweani, popularly called CKay has reflected on the impact of colleagues Augustine “Tekno” Okechukwu and Douglas “Runtown” Agu’s music in shaping the global success of Afrobeats.
CKay, known for his own contributions to the genre with hits like “Love Nwantiti,” “Emiliana,” “Ku Lo Sa,” and “Calm Down,” expressed his admiration for the pioneering artists in a tweet on Friday.
The 27-year-old acknowledged that their unique musical styles paved the way for the widespread acceptance of Afrobeats songs on an international level.

Tekno, widely regarded as one of the leading forces in Afrobeats, has garnered international acclaim with his infectious tracks such as “Pana,” “Duro,” and “Skeletun”.
Runtown, on his part, gained popularity with his hit songs like “Mad Over You,” “For Life,” and “Energy.”
His distinctive vocal style and captivating melodies have played a significant role in raising the profile of Afrobeats music globally.
Earlier, Skabash reported that Ckay explained how Davido played an important role in his journey to become a famous music star.
In an interview, the Love Nwantiti singer noted that his collaboration with Davido happened at an “essential time” in his career, and was vital in placing him in the limelight.
According to him, Davido’s team also welcomed him with open hands. CKay also noted that he would always acknowledge Davido’s assistance whenever he gets the chance to do so.
