An adventurous Nigerian man is in the news after he drove a Volkswagen passenger bus (danfo) from London to Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria.
The man, Babatunde Tomori, said the journey took approximately two months and two weeks.
However, he quickly added that it wasn’t full-time driving, that he got carried away at several places where he met beautiful people from different parts of the world.
He said detaching from the different families that took him in was a bit emotional, which was one factor that extended the journey.

In an interview with Splash FM, Ibadan, Mr. Babatunde Tomori revealed that he’s a retired civil servant after 26 years of active service in the UK.
Mr. Babatunde said he’s enjoying his time after retirement, and embarking on the journey was to tick the bucket list.
“I’ve always dreamt of this, even though people think it’s crazy, but something kept telling me it’s possible,” he said.
Furthermore, he added that drawing attention to Nigeria’s tourist industry was another reason he had embarked on the journey.
He said, “I want people to start thinking it’s possible to drive to Nigeria, not just flying alone. I want to encourage our diaspora children to come home.
The only story they hear about Nigeria is terrorism, armed robbery, and kidnapping. I want to be in that position where I can rewrite that story for them. But before I can do that, I have to experience it myself; that’s why I did it.”
