The auction will be held next Saturday morning, August 6th, starting at 9:00 in the morning at the airport impound lot 4812 South Avenue. That's on West Shore Boulevard off Hillsborough Avenue. If you want to bid on a car you have to pay with cash or by MasterCard or Visa.

Tampa, Florida - It's more than just a place to get on or off an airplane -- Tampa International Airport is a shopper's paradise. You can buy ties, surf boards, flip flops, footballs, jewelry, and of course used cars.Airport bargain hunters will have the opportunity to buy the vehicle of their dreams... or their nightmares, at the semi annual airport abandoned car auction.Brenda Geohagan, Tampa International Airport: “At the auction six months ago, the least expensive was a $10 Protege. The most expensive was $2,100.”From a Mercedes to a BMW, Mercury, 2003 Honda Motorcycle, the Aviation Authority is giving out better deals than employee pricing. And while the prices of these beauties may be so low they're insane, keep in mind they are as is. And some have to be towed off the lot to get them home. The airport takes possession of the vehicles after they've been in the parking garage for more than 45 days. In order to reclaim their car, the owner has to pay the parking and storage fees. Some owners decide it's too high a price to pay.Brenda Geohagan, Tampa International Airport: “And a lot of times the owners brought it here to abandon it anyway. They've brought it here and decided they just don't want the car.” And while it's not the type of car sale most people go to, if you're looking for a high-flying bargain on a low rent ride, this may be your kind of sale.
