3 Easy Tips For Pulling Off Fall's Below-The-Knee Hemlines

2. Cinch your waist--and show a little skin! Remember, you want to look womanly, not matronly! A mid-length skirt should sit at your natural waist; if you've got a dress on, it should be belted (or nipped) in the middle to remind people exactly where that is. Rachel Bilson looked chic in her Louis Vuitton number at this year's Met Gala thanks to that fabulous belt and just enough decolletage to remind us that she's a hot young thing under all of that skirt.

3. Stick with a neutral color palette. Color is pretty absent this upcoming season to begin with--camels and grays are all the rage--but especially with a look like this, we'd err on the side of more conservative hues. The below-the-knee hemline is meant to look understated and sophisticated (like it does above, on the runway at Marc Jacobs), and a screaming pink skirt won't accomplish that. Add in pops of color with shoes, handbags, and jewelry instead of going all-out "look at me!" in a bold-hued version of this trend.

What do you ladies think of the new below-the-knee hemline? Are you ready to ditch your miniskirt for a season? Do these tips make the look sound slightly less intimidating? Whose version of it do you like best? Discuss!
